Installing custom skins in Minecraft Bedrock across all platforms: Windows 10/11, Mobile, and Console
Minecraft Bedrock Edition offers multiple ways to customize your character's appearance. Unlike Java Edition, Bedrock allows you to import custom skins directly through the game itself on most platforms.
Bedrock Edition also includes the Minecraft Marketplace with both free and paid skins, but with this guide, you'll learn how to use any custom skin you want!
Bedrock Edition skins have the same dimensions as Java (64x64 pixels), but they may handle transparency differently. For best results, use skins specifically designed for Bedrock Edition or from the MinecraftMods collection.
Before installing a skin, you'll need to find one you like:
Action
Cute
Mystery
Our collection includes hundreds of high-quality skins that work perfectly with Bedrock Edition.

Installing custom skins on Windows Bedrock Edition is straightforward:
Open Minecraft Bedrock Edition on your Windows device.
From the main menu, click on the "Dressing Room" button (the hanger icon) or select your character model.
In the character creator screen, choose the "Edit Character" option.
Select the second tab labeled "Classic Skins" in the character editor.
Click on the "Import" button (usually looks like an upload icon). This will open a file browser.
Navigate to where you saved your skin file (.PNG format) and select it.
Select either "Classic" (Steve) or "Slim" (Alex) model type, depending on your skin design.
Click "Confirm" or "Done" to apply the skin to your character.
That's it! Your custom skin will now be applied to your character in-game. You can switch between multiple custom skins by repeating this process.
Follow these steps to install custom skins on Android devices:
Save your chosen skin file (.PNG) to your Android device. Remember where you saved it!
Open the Minecraft app on your Android device.
From the main menu, tap on the Dressing Room icon or your character model.
Tap "Edit Character" to access the character customization screen.
Tap on the second tab (Classic Skins) in the character editor.
Tap on the "Import" button (looks like an upload icon).
Navigate to where you saved your skin file and select it.
Select the appropriate model (Classic or Slim) and tap "Confirm" to apply the skin.
If you're having trouble finding your downloaded skin, try using a file manager app to locate it. Downloaded files are typically stored in the "Downloads" folder.
Installing custom skins on iOS requires a few extra steps, but it's still simple:
Save the skin file to your iPhone or iPad using the Files app. You might need to download it first on Safari, then move it to Files.
Open the Minecraft app on your iOS device.
Tap on the Dressing Room button or your character model from the main menu.
Tap "Edit Character" to open the customization screen.
Tap on the second tab (Classic Skins) in the editor.
Tap the "Import" button (looks like an upload icon).
Navigate to where you saved the skin file in the Files app and select it.
Choose the appropriate model type (Classic or Slim) and tap "Confirm" to apply your skin.
If you're having trouble importing directly, try using the iOS Files app to organize your skin files in a dedicated folder. This makes them easier to find when importing into Minecraft.
Unfortunately, game consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch) don't allow importing custom skins directly within the game. However, there are alternatives!
Link your console to a Microsoft account, then use a mobile device or PC to change your skin following the steps above. The skin will sync to your console when you sign in.
Console versions support the official Minecraft Marketplace, where you can find and purchase skin packs.
Use the built-in Character Creator to design a custom character. While not the same as importing a custom skin, you can create unique looks with the available options.
While direct skin file importing isn't available on consoles, linking your Microsoft account is the best way to use custom skins. For more details on console-specific features, check our Console Edition guide.
